Your Face, Your Story.
Women over 40 are too beautiful to not be seen,
and too experienced to not be heard.
Together we can challenge the stereotypes of women and ageing.
What is the Your Face, Your Story Project?
The Your Face, Your Story Project is inspired by the conversations I have had with countless incredible women since I opened my gallery, studio, & store. It is inspired by friends who have started articulating the challenges of aging, yet for the most part are silently soldiering on bravely, fiercely, and magnificently. This fire is fanned by those in my life who have loved, who have lost, and who have had their spirits broken, yet who continue to live so very bravely. Ageing and the privilege associated with it is something I care deeply about, and it is something that should be respected, and celebrated which is not something we always get right in this ‘civilised’ world. Finally, it is something that has been born from my own experience of aging and some of the things I have learned thus far.
The Your Face, Your Story Project is a celebration of the lives of fabulous women over 40
and a challenge to the awful stereotypes of women and ageing.
Be seen. Be heard. Tell your story. Celebrate your life.

02
The Discovery Meeting
Your involvement in the Your Face, Your Story project will begin with our Discovery Meeting. We will meet properly, and get to know each other. We will talk about your experiences with being over 40, your views on ageing and where you are at right now. We will discuss the type of photos you would love to end up with, why you are doing the project and come up with a plan for your shoot.
Finally we will book a date for your shoot and also put a date in the diary for our post-shoot meeting!
04
Post-shoot meeting
At your post-shoot meeting, you will enjoy a slide show of your images. I will also go over your gallery and recommend different ways of culling for you to select your hero image that is included in your registration package and will be used in the exhibition. If you wish to purchase additional images they are available at a special image price of $30 each.
Finally the project culminates with our celebratory Exhibition on Friday 6th February 2026

FAQ
What does it cost to be involved in the Your Face, Your Story Project?
It was important to me to make this project as affordable as possible to ensure that price is not a barrier to entry
and that as diverse a range of women as possible can be involved. To secure your place in the project you need to purchase the Your Face, Your Story Project Registration Package. This includes the full project involvement which includes Discovery meeting, your shoot and a post-shooting meeting, your favourite image from your shoot (digital print + 5" x 7" art print + larger mounted print used in the exhibition), and 1 ticket to the exhibition.
The Your Face, Your Story Registration Package for 2025 is $300.
The aim of the project is that you enjoy the project experience and that you walk away with 1 special
legacy image that you adore so there is no pressure to purchase any additional images.
However, if you love your images they are available at an exclusive project price of $30 per image.
Can I be involved if I don't want my images shared on social media?
A very important part of this project is to inspire other women to celebrate themselves just the way
they are and to create a feeling of community. Sharing beautiful positive stories in a negative world is an important part of what I do and a vital part of this project. If you are not happy with your images being shared on social media, you will not be suitable for this project. I would be delighted to discuss a shoot with you using my
standard package prices.
Where will the Your Face, Your Story Project take place?
We can be super flexible when it comes to the Discovery Meeting, & Post-Shoot Meeting which can take place wherever suits including my studio and on Zoom. The actual shoot will take place at my studio in Tenterfield.
I am happy to include other locations such as your home, or a special place in your heart for your shoot if that is important to you. This project is meant to be a celebration of you, so that is something we can discuss at the Discovery Meeting.
Does the shoot include Hair & Makeup?
No. The shoot does not include hair & makeup. If you would like to organise hair and makeup for your shoot, please do so. We will cover all of that at the Discovery Meeting. I believe in doing what makes you feel comfortable.
What will I wear?
At the Discovery Meeting, we will discuss outfits and I will provide recommendations once we have a shoot plan.
For the shoot, wear what makes you feel safe, happy, sexy, loved, and wonderful. If you want to celebrate various sides of you then this is your chance!
What are the important dates of the project?
I work every day except Mondays, so we can confirm a day that suits your schedule.
Shoots can take place anytime between the 1st April 2025 and the 11th January 2026.
The Your Face, Your Story Project will be held on Friday 6th February, 2026.
Can I include my children, partner, pet or family?
Absolutely! Part of your beautiful story is the people you love so if you want to include your loved ones at the
end of your shoot, then the more the merrier. Please remember that you are allowed to make this entirely about you.
During the 2024 Your Face, Your Story Project shoots included friends, children, partners and pets!
Tell me about the exhibition
One of the most exciting parts of this project is to celebrate the portraits and stories of the 40 incredible women involved in this project with an exhibition. The exhibition will be held in Tenterfield on Friday 6th February 2026.
Your registration packages include one ticket to the exhibition and the mounted print used in the exhibition.
This print will be available to you after the exhibition.
Please note that the exhibition evening event is for the women of the project only,
though the exhibition will be open to the public on Saturday 7th February 2026.
How are you choosing who participates?
I am not 'choosing' anyone. I believe every woman is beautiful and has an inspirational story
to share, so I am not interested in selecting or excluding anybody. This project is first come, first served.
The only limit to participation is that you can commit to the project criteria.
The only other limit is that there are only 40 spots available.
Project criteria:
You must have turned 40 by the 1st March 2025
You are happy with your images and words being shared by Lara on the social media channels
of @mynotesfrom and on this website.
You will be available for a shoot in Tenterfield between the 1st April and the 11th January 2026
How long does project will take?
The project will begin in early 2025 and end on the 7th February 2026. The 2025 Your Face, Your Story Project will culminate with an exhibition on the 6th February, 2026. The 2025 Your Face, Your Story Project will open for registration from the 1st March 2025.
