The curtain of humanity

The curtain of humanity

The curtain of humanity

I have very few words today, just these.

I don’t understand how someone can say they care about humanity but don’t care about all humans. If that is the case, it is not humanity that people care about, just people who are like them and that is not a belief, it is a hobby.

Right now, the world doesn’t need hobbyists, it needs people who genuinely believe in humanity because it is the right thing to do and who will fight for it, because they cannot live with the alternative.

The curtain of humanity

Gaza has ripped back

the curtain of humanity

to reveal inequality,

brutality, and depravity,

and laid bare for all to see

the horror of Western complicity.

Tenterfield, NSW, Australia

I would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of Tenterfield, the place where I call home, the Kamilaroi, Jukembal, and Ngarabal people.

I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognise the continuing connection to lands, waters, and communities.

I pay my respects to Elders past and present.
