Shirley, celebrating 71 fabulous years with the Your Face, Your Story Project.

I have known Shirley for many years dating back to Wallangarra Primary School and her amazing involvement with the Ballandean Soccer Club. She is a bit of a legend, so it was lovely to spend some proper time with her.

Shirley’s shoot involved some studio time with a visit to Millbrook Park and we then finished up at Shirley’s home because family is so important to Shirley. We also combined Shirley’s shoot with her daughter Katrina which made it even more special.

I asked Shirley how she felt about her age, and she replied, “I feel honoured to have reached this age because many people don’t get the privilege.”

I will be forever touched by people’s gratitude for age and all the wonderful things it brings with it.

The Your Face, Your Story Project is a project of inspiration celebrating the lives of 40 women over 40 and challenging the stereotypes of women and ageing.
