Sara, celebrating 57 fabulous years with the Your Face, Your Story Project.
Initially, I planned to do Sara's shoot entirely in the studio. But after Sara travelled from Sydney to be here for both the project and a book evening at My Notes From and after spending a little time with her, I thought this beautiful part of Tenterfield needed to be added to her shoot. This beautiful road was so fitting especially as Sara is travelling an incredible journey having published her first book The Sunbird. The Sunbird is a modern parable that speaks poetically of the Palestinian experience and tells the story of millions who just want to go home.
I asked Sara how she felt about her age and this was her response, "I feel good about my age, and that’s probably because I’m content and healthy. I’ve had a lot of great experiences, and have met and been involved with many wonderful and interesting people. Allowing for the fact that there are always new experiences to be had, I am mostly doing what I want to do. I work for myself, I’ve just published a book. I don’t experience the feeling of invisibility that many older women talk about. I feel very lucky. I have a great family, good friends and a home in which I feel safe and comfortable."
The Your Face, Your Story Project is a project that celebrates the lives of women over 40 and challenges the stereotypes of women and ageing.
