Norma, a Water Warrior

In Norma’s words:

After finishing treatment for cancer, I needed something to build me up again. I loved being in our backyard pool growing up as it was my escape so when I found an advertisement to learn Metaqua on FB it appealed to me. I spoke with Amanda and explained my history and being just 2 years post chemo thought I would give it a try.

When I attended my first lesson with Amanda it brought back just how much I love being in the water. I have made new friendships and try to go to classes with Amanda every Friday when I can and an extra day during the week with my new friends. Metaqua not only gives me exercises to improve my health it also has given me back my love of being in the water - it's my little weekly escape.

Being in the water and doing the Metaqua exercise not only has helped me physically but also mentally. I can escape my everyday worries and just flow with the energy of the water. I find I’m in a better mind frame in and out of the water after being in the pool a few days a week. My body feels so much better when exercising in the water. I find it hard to exercise in the gym as due to my chemo I have permanent neuropathy in both feet, and my mid lower legs. When in the water I feel it helps ease pressure on all areas of my body as I do the Metaqua moves.”

The Water Warrior Project is a joint project of inspiration between Amanda, Metaqua Instructor from @swimminginthefield, and Lara Flanagan, Photographer from My Notes From Gallery, Studio, & Store
