Nardia, a Water Warrior
In Nardia’s words…..
“Growing up I learnt enough swimming to be able to swim the 50m pool - It wasn't fast, and I definitely was not a lap swimmer, but I do like the water. 7 years ago, I had a 5-year-old and 1-year-old and when I was starting group exercise, I saw an ad for Metaqua and decided to learn it. I enjoyed it, and it got me back in the water. I did a few sessions but didn't have the confidence to continue in the pool and do it by myself, I felt like a goose, and finding the time was tricky. Life seemed to get busier, working full time, a third child added to the family and my husband went back FIFO.
Each summer I would think of getting back in the pool and doing more Metaqua, but it all seemed too hard. This year all 3 of my children are at school and I got a message from Amanda letting me know about group sessions at 6 am- and they were at a time that I could make work for me. I also realised that I have spent very little time in the water in the past couple of years, even though we have an annual beach holiday, due to my body confidence. I organised help to get my children ready for school so I could get in the water with Amanda during the weeks my husband was away at work.
From the first session back, I was hooked! I love being in the water with my fellow water warriors. We chat and laugh, and the hour goes by so quickly, even when we are doing the dreaded "Chair". I also learnt that early morning swimming works for me - you will find me in the water 5.30 am most mornings, rain or shine doing Metaqua. It's my "me" time, a chance to escape the kids and house and do something for myself that I enjoy. I feel happier and my stress levels feel more manageable. The centimetres I am noticing lost from my body are a bonus.”
