Michelle, a Water Warrior
In Michelle’s words:
“I moved to the area for the start of the 2023 school year. I relocated the family, including three boys (now 9, 10 and 15) because we were looking for a lifestyle change and to find a community to be a part of. We absolutely found that! But the stress of such a big move, not always looking after myself and general aging left me with a bad case of planta fasciitis, a tired body and stiff sore joints. At only 46 I didn’t like hearing what the doctors were telling me about arthritis and the future. Knowing exercise was crucial if I wanted to improve the state of my health, I went looking for zero impact options and discovered Metaqua. The timing of the 2pm classes could not have been more perfect to pick up the kids from the bus outside the YMCA in the afternoon and I had no excuses to stop me from giving it a go.
Getting in the water took me out of my comfort zone, but Amanda was lovely, & I was reminded of how much I love the water. I’d forgotten how relaxing & soothing swimming could be & how I had used it before for stress management & fitness. And while it all looked very easy from the side of the pool – from the first class by muscles felt it! There’s always a good vibe buzz getting out of the water after a session.
An injury at home resulting in 7 stitches in my arm, forced me to take a few weeks off but I can’t wait to get back this week and make the most of the program & good water feels before the pool closes. Metaqua along with a few other lifestyle changes helped reduce my pain symptoms to the point of needing daily medication - which is the perfect motivation to keep on going. That and the sweet feeling of relief that I found a form of exercise that is effective, but I also enjoy!
I cannot thank Amanda enough for her enthusiasm, positivity, & motivation. If you’ve heard about Metaqua but been hesitant to give it a go my advice is to just get in the water as you will not regret it.”
