Kelly, celebrating 44 fabulous years

Portrait of a woman outdoors

Kelly, celebrating 44 fabulous years with the Your Face, Your Story Project

Kelly and I headed to Bald Rock on Sunday for the first part of her shoot as it was a bucket list item for Kelly to see the sunrise off the top of Bald Rock. Kelly works for NSW National Parks, and it was lovely to hear more about the sheer scope of what Kelly does for National Parks. We are finishing off Kelly’s shoot in the studio this weekend.

There were many reasons for the Your Face, Your Story Project and Kelly summed up one of them when I asked her what the biggest negative thing about age for her was, “The societal perception that as we age our worth somehow diminishes.”

I also asked Kelly what she would say to herself if she could go back in time and talk to her younger self and once again, I adored her response. I have decided that these responses are definitely going to be part of the exhibition!

“I would tell her to accept the past for what it was (you can’t change it), be yourself always, be kinder to yourself and trust your instincts. Oh, and travel more before you have kids!”

It is a big week ahead with the final shoots for the project which will end with a celebratory exhibition in February. The exhibition will be open to the public on Saturday 8th February from 9am to 1pm. The Your Face, Your Story Project is a project celebrating the lives of 40 women over 40 and challenging the stereotypes of women and ageing.

Registrations are now open for the 2025 Project. The project will open to those who have registered their interest on the 17th February and to the general public on the 3rd March 2025. For information head to: https://www.mynotesfrom.com/yourfaceyourstory
