It hurts everywhere.
Yesterday I watched the pleas coming from Kamal Adwan Hospital in Northern Gaza as it dealt with its 70th day under siege by Israeli Occupational Forces. In those 70 days, doctors, paramedics, nurses, patients, visitors, those taking refuge, and members of the press have been systematically targetted and murdered. Destroying the last remaining hospital in this area is part of Israel's ongoing effort to ethnically cleanse Northern Gaza.
Yesterday they targeted the intensive care unit, the neonatal unit, and the maternity ward. I could not get my head around that. They were targeting the intensive care unit, the neonatal unit, and the maternity ward. The hospital had been issued evacuation orders again, yet those who were evacuating were being murdered by snipers and drones. The remaining hospital staff stayed put as they knew that evacuating the patients from the intensive care unit, the neonatal unit, and the maternity ward meant death for all patients.
Not once did I hear this reported on the news. I did hear about possible strike action on New Year's Eve though which is super concerning as it might affect the million-dollar fireworks.
How will we all cope?
I asked
I asked the sea where does it hurt,
and the sea replied
it hurts in every drop
and every wave.
I asked the sky where does it hurt,
and the sky replied
it hurts in every cloud
and every star.
I asked the wind where does it hurt,
and the wind replied
it hurts in every breeze
and every breath.
I asked the earth where does it hurt,
and the earth replied
it hurts everywhere,
everywhere, it hurts everywhere.
