Heather, celebrating 57 fabulous years with the Your Face, Your Story Project
I can’t remember when Heather and I first crossed paths on social media, but it also turns out she used to work with my older sister Nicola many moons ago – it is a small world! Heather is an amazing artist and marches to the beat of her own drum and is a lovely person to shoot the breeze with, so this project was such a lovely opportunity to spend a little more time with her.
We had Heather’s shoot last weekend which took us around a little bit of Tenterfield before we hung out in the studio. I was so excited when Heather suggested the Tenterfield Railway Museum as a location – thank you again to the team of the Tenterfield Railway Museum – it is one of my happy places and I love being a part of their team.
I asked Heather what she would say to her younger self if she could go back in time and I loved her response; “Never forget you’re the writer, director and the lead actor in this movie of your life, so whatever happens, the show must and will go on! The secret is to keep the plot moving, the laughs flowing, a few unexpected twists and turns, gather a great cast you love, and absolutely love every minute you can. (Also maybe consider getting a stunt double to do your driving…. 😉)”
I am coming to the pointy end of the project with 6 shoots remaining and then a celebratory exhibition to organise in early February. I look forward to sharing more of what this project means to me, but for the moment I would just like to say that it has been an absolute joy to sit with these amazing 40 women and to share a little of their story.
The Your Face, Your Story Project is a project celebrating the lives of 40 women over 40 and challenging the stereotypes of women and ageing.
