Conversations with Oday & Ameera
Oday’s sister Ameera shared this video this morning. It is the view from a window of her home. There is nothing left. When people say things like, “they will be able to return” do they ever ask themselves what have they got to return to?
Ameera’s faith astounds me. As does Oday’s. That there is a god that provides so much faith that people remain hopeful and resilient despite the unimaginable is something that leaves me speechless. There is also a god that has given permission for ethnic cleansing, genocide, barbaric torture and crimes against humanity. It struck me as part of the barbaric theatre of the absurd this morning the god of faith and resilience is the one we are meant to fear (god of terrorists didn’t you know) and the other god gets the full support of the Western War Machine.
I don’t believe in god. But if I was to meet god at the pearly gates I know which one I would like to share a table with.
Oday and Ameera are trying to keep their families alive. Any donation makes a difference, no matter how small. I met @oday_aburaida through @projectlovebrocade, a worldwide initiative amplifying the voices of the people of Palestine.
Any money raised assists Oday's family with the basics that in Gaza mean the difference between life and death.
