Conversations with Oday
This conversation with Oday, about his sister Ameera felt too personal to share. But I spend my days trying to think of ways to get help for Oday and his family and if things like this don’t pull at the heart strings, I have no idea what will.
This is beautiful Amir, Oday’s nephew. He is on his own with his mum Ameera living in desperate times. Winter is coming and their dilapidated tent is not ready for the wet and the cold. Oday misses him desperately.
This week the scenes coming out of Northern Gaza are apocalyptic. I find myself desperately searching for beauty everywhere in my little world so I can better carry the grief I feel.
I increasingly lose my words and just wish I could help more because the little I am able to do seems insignificant compared to the enormity of what the people in the Levant are facing.
Oday is my friend. If you can help, I would be forever grateful.
I met @oday_aburaida through @projectlovebrocade, a worldwide initiative amplifying the voices of the people of Palestine.
Any money raised assists Oday's entire family with the basics that in Gaza mean the difference between life and death.
There are many ways you can help Oday and his family. The best is donating to his GoFundMe account or donate to me in store.
Oday's beautiful sister Ameera and young son are on Instagram @ameeraida995 and her fundraising link is https://spot.fund/m734llsc
I have cards in store and online as well as a poetry collection – details on website
I am also working on a new bumper raffle I am hoping to finalise today so stay tuned!
Thank you,
