Conversations with Oday

Conversations with Oday.

If I could sum up my friendship with Oday, I would use the word dignity. He is teaching me about dignity; I am so grateful for that gift. If I was him, or any Palestinian, I am sure that I would be handling things very differently.

Oday goes to bed every night wondering if his family made it through the night. He goes to bed wondering every night if he will be able to get them enough money next week to allow them to survive another week. He is 21 years old, and he has the weight of the world on his shoulders. He is carrying the sole responsibility of helping to keep his family in Gaza alive while he navigates the world as a refugee trying to establish himself so he can continue making a difference.

Despite all of this, today Oday wanted to share with me how much his family loves life, how they had accessed food and how they were celebrating by making a special meal – Maftool Food!

I am on a mission to share Oday’s story and to also assist with raising funds for him to help support his family.

I was matched with @oday_aburaida through @projectlovebrocade which is a worldwide initiative amplifying the voices of Palestinian people and providing support through awareness and fundraising. The best way to help Oday is to donate to his verified GoFundMe page:https://gofund.me/19dbdd50

I am also selling a range of Flower Inspiration cards in-store and online:https://www.mynotesfrom.com/product-page/flower-inspiration-greeting-cards-fundraiserThank you to anybody who has donated to Oday’s GoFundMe page or purchased a pack of Flower Inspiration Cards.

Thank you also for following along with Oday’s story.
