Brenda, celebrating 63 fabulous years with the Your Face, Your Story Project.
Brenda and I first caught up for our Discovery Meeting via zoom, so I was absolutely thrilled when she contacted me a little while ago to say she was in Tenterfield today for a weekend of music and friendship. She asked if it would be ok if she popped in to say hi and to redo her project mugshot!
It was lovely to catch up with her today for a little while and to replace her zoom mugshot. Brenda is a complete inspiration to me.
Brenda is someone who has faced incredible trauma in her life but she has a resilience and an inner glow that is beautiful to be around.
When I asked Brenda how she felt about her age her response was,
“I have mixed emotions. As for most of us, life has not always been kind and particularly not to those of us born a female. To me, the future is now about healing from my past, finding a way forward, continuing to learn every single day and maybe sharing some wisdom that I’ve acquired along the way. It’s about making the most of the time I have left on this earth, cherishing time with family and loved ones and doing my bit to somehow leave the world a better place for those I’ll one day leave behind. So back to the question of how I feel about my age – full of possibility.”
I thought her response was so thoughtful, and yet so hopeful at the same time and I was completed touched by it.
I am super excited about her shoot later this year.
The Your Face, Your Story Project is a project of inspiration for women over 40. It is both a celebration and a challenge to the stereotypes of women and ageing.
I look forward to sharing the incredible faces and stories of 40 fabulous women over 40 in the coming months.
