Poems for Palestine

Braver and golder

I received a cute message yesterday, the contents of which don’t deserve to be shared. Basically, I was told that I was lacking in humanity because I dared to share content that was not pro-Israel. Sometimes messages like that make me lose hope. I mean how dare I share pro-Palestinian content because I am in awe of their humanity which means that because of my content, some people see Israel in a negative light. This particular entity, the criticism of which has nothing to do with anti-semitism (Zionism has nothing to do with Judaism) has been condemned by the International Criminal Court of Justine, the United Nations, Amnesty International, Doctors without Borders, Oxfam, Save the Children, War Child Alliance, UNICEF, and the list goes on and on.

Don’t come at me about humanity if you don’t understand what it means. I just delete and block now and forget about my momentary loss of hope. There are too many people in the world who inspire me with hope and so much more. People who fight for equality, social justice, a press that reports the truth and a world where International Law is respected. I fight for the Palestinians, because they give me hope, and because they are filled with hope, despite it all.

Braver and bolder

Life doesn’t

get easier,

but we get braver

and bolder,

our battered wings

grow stronger,

and we learn

to fight for

that which

gives us hope,

as if we

were fierce

and free.
