Bek, celebrating 48 fabulous years with the Your Face, Your Story Project
Bek and I had a lovely morning this morning for her project shoot. She was not only fabulous company but also very patient whilst dealing with my two neurotic canine assistants and a bloody car that wouldn’t start (twice!) At least it gave us some extra time on Kildare Road to just shoot the breeze for a little while.
When asked why Bek wanted to get involved with the Your Face, Your Story Project Bek’s response was truly inspiring:
“This was gifted to me from a friend. I never really thought I was interesting enough to be part of this yet when I was recovering from the removal of an aggressive and life-threatening BCC, which left my face disfigured, I realised I had a story. I want to inspire women to love themselves scars and all and embrace their story. To be empowered by it not ashamed of it. I want to be part of a group of women who love and admire themselves and are loud and proud about the gift of ageing however they may look. We need to celebrate beauty for what it really is, and its far more than skin deep.”
This project is filled with warrior women, and it continues to be an honour and a privilege to spend time with them all.
The Your Face, Your Story project will end with a celebratory exhibition in February. The exhibition will be open to the public on Saturday 8th February from 9am to 1pm. The Your Face, Your Story Project is a project celebrating the lives of 40 women over 40 and challenging the stereotypes of women and ageing.
Registrations are now open for the 2025 Project. The project will open to those who have registered their interest on the 17th February and to the general public on the 3rd March 2025. For information head to: https://www.mynotesfrom.com/yourfaceyourstory
