Armed with hope

Armed with hope

Armed with hope

The Palestinians of Gaza have nothing left but their hope, and I don’t even know how they have that anymore. For 7 days now all crossings have been closed, there has been no aid let in, and in the last 48 hours Israel decided to cut the electricity to the beleaguered strip. The collective punishment continues. The use of aid, food and water as weapons of war continues. The never-ending cycle of war crimes continues whilst the governments of the Western World don’t even use words and platitudes anymore.

I wish every single one of us would give a little thought to how we could cope and how we would tolerate the same treatment. I don’t understand the silence. I don’t understand when humanity became a choice, when humanity became something we could choose to ignore.

Armed with hope.

No food.

No aid.

No hygiene products.

No medicine.

No entry.

No crossings.

No fuel.

No electricity.

No water.

Now the Palestinians of Gaza

are armed only with their hope,

as the world watches this forced starvation,

have you ever wondered how you would cope?
